How Tinting House Windows Saves Energy
Maximum Blogger • July 16, 2019
One of the side benefits of tinting house windows is that it saves energy by keeping the house cooler. Here's what you should know.

The sun: can't live with too much of it, couldn't live without it. While we need the sun to grow plants and sustain life, we're learning more and more about how damaging the giant star can be.
It giveth and it taketh away... your money if you don't have high-quality tinting house windows. Not only does the sun heat up your house, but it can also damage your furniture, wood floors, paint - and even your skin.
UVA rays transmit through glass, so you can get skin cancer
from just being inside in a sunny room.
The way to fix all that? Protect yourself and your home with tinted windows. Learn how they save energy and protect your belongings below.
How Does Tinting House Windows Work?
Light is a form of energy that gives off heat. When the sun shines, it warms the planet and your home. Part of the way it does that is with ultraviolet and UV rays - which you've heard so much about.
Those specific rays of light are part of a spectrum and they're the most harmful rays. They're also the rays (especially UVA) that can go through glass and not only heat the room they shine into, but also damage the things and people inside.
Window tints block certain harmful rays of light, like the ones we just discussed. Window tints are like a sieve or a colander. They let the good parts through, and keep out what you don't want.
How do they do that? There are particles in the filter that reflect the UV A and UV Rays, bouncing them back towards the sun (and away from your interior).
How Does That Save Energy?
Good question. When those certain rays of light can't get through the filter
(and bounce back off and away) they're no longer directing heat at your home.
The other rays will still bring heat through the glass, but it's like being in partial shade, vs the full sun. It's cooler. Some people experience internal temperature drops of up to ten degrees.
When it's cooler in the house because of partially blocked sun rays, your AC system doesn't have to work as hard to cool the house.
That means you can cut down on your energy bill cost, but also reduce your energy footprint, which we're all trying to do.
